Free Games

Brand new game: The 12 Days of Christmas!

We have been working around the clock to bring some of our greatest games to you, in a free print-and-play format. This page is a list of those games. You can print these games, copy them for your friends, and give them to whomever you want as long as they stay intact. Instructions for how to make your own copies are contained in each game's rules.

Because printing and playing is not for everyone, we've sorted this list into four categories: Rules Only, Boards Only, Cards Only, and Cards and Boards. If you're looking for something quick and easy, check out Rules Only games like the Poker Suite. There's also an "other" group at the end, because there's always something that doesn't fit.

New additions to this list include Spree!, Cheapass Money, the original Kill Doctor Lucky, and a new color version of Witch Trial. Keep checking back every week or two, to see what new old stuff we've added. And remember to donate to Cheapass Games if you like what you see.

Rules Only:

If you're just looking for something that you can print and play (or just read the rules off your laptop) then check out these Rules-Only games, like the Poker Suite, Pennywise, and Button Men. You may still have to gather spare parts to play these games, but at least you don't have to build your own boards and cards.

  • Button Men  Button Men: A mean little dice game for two players (Now with Vampyres!)
  • Pennywise  Pennywise: a classic change-making game for two players, with four versions!
  • Poker Suite  Poker Suite: A collection of 14 original games you can play with a standard deck
  • Take Back Toe  Take-Back-Toe: A two- player abstract game featuring poker chips and a six-sided die

Boards Only:

These games have just boards, which are pretty easy to print and play. Most of these "Boards" can be printed on plain white paper, or you can get fancy and make them more glorious and permanent. Instructions for printing each game are contained in the rule books.

  • Devil Bunny  Devil Bunny Needs a Ham: An absurd game about climbing a building, for 2-5 players
  • Mapple  Mapple: A territory control game played with pocket change, for 2 players.
  • Spree!  Spree! A raucous game about looting a shopping mall, for 3-8 players.
  • Tishai  Tishai: A Chess variant from the mysterious past

Cards Only:

These games have cards, which can be somewhat daunting to print yourself. Some of them use poker-sized cards, some use odd-sized cards like 2x3 tiles. There are instructions in every rule book with suggestions of the best ways to produce these cards yourself, and they are different from game to game. In some cases, you can also print the decks of cards at artscow.com, a Hong Kong print-on-demand shop that makes fairly good cards. (Note: when you do that, we don't collect any of what you pay them.)

  • Agora  Agora: A clever little market-building game for 2-4 players
  • The Big Cheese  The Big Cheese: A clever little bidding game about projects, time, and rats.
  • BRAWL  BRAWL: Lightning-fast real-time card game for 2 players.
  • FALLING  FALLING: A real-time card game about falling and fighting, for 4-8 players
  • TimeLine  TimeLine: A tile-based game about the economics of time travel, for 2 to 5 players
  • 12 Days of Christmas  The 12 Days of Christmas: A simple Christmas-themed bidding game, for 3 to 5 players
  • Unexploded Cow  Unexploded Cow: A lighthearted card game about mad cows and unexploded bombs

Cards and Boards:

These games have cards and boards. They are certainly production challenges, but they also represent some of the best games that Cheapass Games has to offer. So check them out, take the time, and build something of lasting quality. Or at least something that will last as long as you intend to play it.

  • Deadwood  Deadwood: A hilarious board game about bit actors on a Western backlot
  • Kill Doctor Lucky  Kill Doctor Lucky: The original Cheapass Game of killing an old man in his house.
  • Witch Trial  Witch Trial: A card game about lawyers, witches, and money, for 3 to 7 players.

Other:

This category has only one accessory item in it right now, Cheapass Money. This is nine pages of bills ranging from $1 to $1000, decorated with some of our favorite game artwork, and suitable for use in any game you can think of.

  • Cheapass Money  Cheapass Money: Nine bills, ten to a page, suitable for currency in all Cheapass money games.
