Cheapass Games Announces New Sales Partner
Cheapass Games is pleased to announce that we are changing
the way we do business. Beginning in March 2006, cheapass.com
will be transformed into an information-only Web page and
all direct sales will go through our new business partner,
paizo.com. What does this mean for you? Probably nothing;
Paizo will offer the same products, same prices, and (for
the most part) same pieces that we do. What does it mean for
us? Well, probably it means making more profits and getting
part of our basement back. So that's all good. Paizo is also
taking over our distribution sales: read the press release
here.
In The Works
Many things are in the works at Cheapass Games, including
the re-vamping of our Web site and the changeover to selling
through paizo.com (read
the press release here). We're also working on a few new
games for 2006, including Enemy Chocolatier, a new board game
about chocolate, nuts and love; Dead Money, a new Friedey's
game set in the Old West; and (hopefully) Necrophonic Saves
the World, a board game about a terrible Seattle band, featuring
a music CD from the awesome Chicago band, Beatnik Turtle.
Come back after we move and read all about them!
Price Drop: The Man Between
Most of our games couldn't get any cheaper, but our one movie
can. The price of The
Man Between, James Ernest's experimental spy comedy featuring
a no-star cast and lots of waiting, is now cheaper than before
at the low price of $9.95. There has never been a better time
to relieve us of our vast backstock of this hilarious film.
In the Works
Many things are in the works at Cheapass Games, but the most
important is that we may soon be dramatically overhauling
our Web store, a change which may include the elimination
some of our slower-moving product categories. For example,
we are already very sure that we will not be selling Poker
Chips for much longer, because poker chips have become much
cheaper and easier to find since we started carrying them
four years ago. So, if there's a product you've been thinking
about getting but haven't bothered because, like everyone
else, you don't really want it that much, be sure and snap
it up before we dump the rest of it into the ocean!
Cheapass Games in Rolling Stone
Yes, it's finally happened. Cheapass Games have been featured
in the gift guide in Rolling Stone. At last, we shall get
the holiday sales we deserve. At last we shall have our revenge.
If you're new to this site, breeze through our Holiday
Gift Guide for the lowdown on what's new, what's cool,
and what you absolutely can't live without.
Finally, A Book About Poker!
James Ernest has teamed up with noted poker players Phil Foglio
and Mike Selinker to create Dealer's Choice: the Complete
Handbook of Saturday Night Poker. It's a compendium of more
than 200 different poker variations, ranging from the traditional
to the absurd, plus the basics of the game and hints for running
your own poker night. Dealer's Choice is published by Overlook
Press and available in all major booksellers (no kidding!)
and thanks to an unexpectedly difficult symphony of hair-pulling
we can also sell it right here. Subscribers: If you
wish to receive a copy, please e-mail or call John.
Avast! Captain Treasure Boots is Here!
The golden age of Cheapass Games meets the golden age of Piracy
in this traditional envelope-style game about pirates, treasure,
and booty. Or rather, boots. Join Captain
Treasure Boots and his gang of adventurers as they sail
the seas in search of treasure and glory. It's decidedly cheap
at just $3.50, and contains four full-color boards that can
be arranged in dozens of different ways. And, as if that wasn't
enough, you can also get a specially labeled "Captain
Treasure Bits" package for another $4.50, containing
all the bits and pieces you need to play the game.
Three New Punch Cards
To fill the extra space on the Captain Treasure Boots press
sheet, we printed three new Punch
Cards with colored art from the Great
Brain Robbery. You'll probably find one of them free in
your next order, but if you really must have a complete set,
you can order them for just a dollar. Punch Cards is a tiny
little game that plays with just two cards: collect the Wasted
Lands and Spy
Game sets, too!
Enter the Dragons!
Diceland players, rejoice again. Diceland:
Dragons is here! Dragons is a 12-die expansion for Diceland
featuring dragons, dragon riders, and other odd folks from
a magical fantasy world of fantasy, magic, and, you know,
dragons. This set contains four 3-die armies and rules for
up to 4 players. You'll need the basic rules, found in any
Diceland boxed set or downloaded free from www.diceland.com.
Penny Arcade Promo Die
As if that wasn't enough Diceland, we're also pleased to offer,
for a limited time, the Penny Arcade
promo die. This die is free with any Diceland purchase,
while supplies last. It features four characters from the
Penny Arcade comic, with powerful moves like Xtreme Violence,
a Double Command All, and Hammer: 4 (you'll have to get the
die to figure out what that is). It's a limited edition freebie
and it's goin' fast.
Secret Tijuana
Deathmatch
You and your associates are unscrupulous wrestling promoters,
cajoling bankrupt and suicidal American businessmen into secret
Tijuana deathmatches, for money, fame, and glory. Actually,
it usually leads to an untimely death, rather than those other
things. But hey, "Mexican Wrestling" is just another
word for "nothing left to lose." Enjoy this game
while you can: because it uses recycled counters from another
company's game, we can't ever make more than the first print
run. Wow! It's already collectible!
Diceland: Cyburg
The first of two summer Diceland expansions, Cyburg introduces
two teams of fighters battling over control of Cyberspace.
Specifically, a game world-cum-alternate universe where innocent
citizens dwell in fear, despite the inescapable fact that
they don't have to dwell there at all. Cyburg contains 12
dice illustrated by Eduardo Müller and introduces new
abilities like Double Shot and Clone. Also, check out our
new Diceland Mini
Box: it's perfect for holding just 15 dice, and it's so
awesome it makes us wonder why we haven't sold boxes this
size before.
