In late 2001, Cheapass Games released its first computer
game, Plasmaworm, a
product of the brilliant minds at Digital
Eel. Their follow-up was Strange
Adventures in Infinite Space, an award-nominated and critically
acclaimed PC game that defined a new niche in the genre: the
15-minute adventure game. In 2003 we released Dr.
Blob's Organism, another award-winner with fast arcade
action and wet, squishy blob sounds; and 2004 brought us Digital
Eel's Big Box of Blox,
a brilliant spin on a classic dropping-cubes game with features
like bombs, slot machines, and jokers, and (of course) an
amazing sound track. And now, three of these titles are now
available in a discounted pack for both Mac and PC, the Boiler
Plate Special.
Boiler Plate Special:
Three games, one low price. The Boiler Plate Special contains
Digital Eel's Big Box of Blox, Dr. Blob's Organism, and Strange
Adventures in Infinite Space, all on one CD for Mac OSX or
three CDs for PC, for the low price of $25.
Big Box of Blox (2004):
Digital Eel's newest contribution to the Cheapass Computer
Game catalog is Big Box of Blox, a spellbinding and original
take on the old dropping-things-into-place game. Blox has
great graphics and sound, five completely different versions
each with its own look and sound, and a feature that lets
you pick and choose your favorite art, sound, and weird blox
from any of the other versions. Blox is available now for
the low low price of $10!
Doctor Blob's Organism
(2003): Step into the laboratory of Dr. Blob, as one unstoppable
Organism after another struggles to reach the edge of its
petri dish. This high-energy arcade game pits you against
21 levels of energetic blobs, with great music, great sounds,
and amazing graphics. Turn off your brain and get shooting:
it's a steal of a deal at the low price of $10. (Requires
OpenGL1.1: try the free demo here.)
Strange Adventures in Infinite
Space (2002) is a detailed little adventure game, and
with a playing time of about 15 minutes it's the only adventure
you can finish more than once in a lunch hour (and still have
time to stand in line at Starbucks). Strange Adventures has
been praised by some of the top game reviewers in the galaxy,
and its combination of quirky graphics, fantastic sounds,
and elegant space combat make it a must-have for any armchair
space captain. Add a folder of high-quality space art, a demo
of Plasmaworm, and a new feature that lets you write your
own versions of the game, and Strange Adventures is a steal
at $15.
Plasmaworm (2001) is
a beautifully designed arcade game about a nice little worm
that absolutely has to eat everything. It's a little more
complex than your typical worm game, with mazes of obstacles
to dodge, guns full of bullets to shoot, and even a flock
of flying ducks to corner and eat. Plasmaworm also has a fantastic
soundtrack, level editor, and even a music editor (!) all
for the Cheapass price of $10.

The v1.1 Patch is now available. It contains:
- A new streamlined menu system
- A handy windowed mode option
- A few minor gfx tweaks
- And *drum roll* mouse support!
This patch is not needed, but you may want to blast blobs
the modern way *wink*.

The SAIS v1.5 Patch is now available. This patch is
for the full (CD) version of Strange Adventures In Infinite
Space and won't work with the free demo. This patch fixes
timing problem (which occurred while moving the explorer starship
on the star map) caused by faster processors in new PC's.
