Punch Cards Official Web Site

Punch Cards Con Game:

Cheapass Games is pleased to sponsor a free convention-wide game of Punch Cards at this year's ___________con. Visit __________ at ____________ to receive your free packet of five Punch Cards. Then read the rules below and have fun!

Before You Play: Write your name somewhere on the back of all your cards. Collecting other players' names is the way you win the game. You should also find some way to show other people that you're playing the game, such as wearing a punch card taped to your badge or roaming the halls singing "I'm playing Punch Cards, How About You?"

How to Play: Each Punch card has a unique set of numbers printed on the back, and four holes punched through the card. Each player choses one corner of his card in secret. Hold the cards back-to-back and look at the numbers through the holes. Together, players call either "High," Low," or "Both." If one player says "High" and the other player says "Low," play again. Otherwise, either the highest or the lowest number wins, depending on what was called. If you say "Both" the game is always on, but you must win both ways. In case of a tie, look at the next numbers, and so on, until one player or the other runs out of numbers. The winner keeps the loser's card.

You can challenge anyone in the game, and you must accept the first challenge from any rival, but you may refuse subsequent challenges until both players have fought someone else.

Once you have a collection of other players' cards, you don't have to play with your own. This matters because you will score points for every name you collect, and duplicates of names aren't worth much more.

Players can re-enter if they run out of cards, continuing to use the same name. Players can always trade if they want, rather than fighting.

Scoring: At or before ____________ on the last day, all players must bring in their collections of cards to ____________ to be scored. (You can keep your cards, we just want to figure out your score.) Players score as follows: For every unique name in your collection, including your own, you score one point. If the high score is tied, we will award the winners one extra point for each name they have a second copy of, and so on until a winner is determined. The winner receives ____________________________. Thanks to Cheapass Games for their help in making this game so much fun! Visit their Web site at www.cheapass.com.
