Cheapass Games greets the new year of 2006 with the worried
grin of a boy giving an improvised report on a book he has
never read. Here is what we hope to accomplish this year,
given that we have no idea what we're doing:
Spring 2006: Another big move.
Cheapass Games has just made a deal that will keep the Empire
out of here forever, allowing us to quietly harvest tabana
gas without interference from the emperor and his cybernetic
lackeys. What this means for the rest of us is a shift in
the look of our Web site, and the clandestine relocation of
our e-commerce portal. We're not sure how invisible this is
going to be, but be aware, we've got top men working on it
right now.
Summer 2006: Once James Ernest
gets his basement back and spends the requisite ten days watching
movies and building pirate ships with Legos, he will return
to the daily grind of creating cool games. First on tap (and
already in playtest, actually) is a new color board game in
the mold of the very successful Captain
Treasure Boots. This one is called Enemy Chocolatier,
and without putting too fine a point on it, it's about competing
to become the new arch rival for the world's most powerful
candy man. Also in Summer 2006 we hope to bring you a game
that had a false start in 2005: A new Friedey's game called
Dead Money. Frankly the 2005 version of Dead Money wasn't
up to our usual standards, so we've taken it back to formula
and we're cooking up something much better As We Speak.
Coming from Other Publishers:
So, okay, aside from building pirate ships and wasting precious
game energy at the poker tables, James Ernest has also been
moonlighting as co-owner of Lone
Shark Games, the design studio responsible for WizKids'
Pirates of the Spanish Main. The next Lone Shark game in line
to hit the streets is Gloria Mundi, a Euro-style game from
Rio Grande Games about the fall of Rome, and the havoc that
wreaks on your personal finances. Soon after that, we expect
to see a couple other games we can't tell you about. In the
summer of 2006, or thereabouts, new company Titanic Games
plans to release its first Cheapass reprint, a full-color
edition of Kill Doctor Lucky.
